The Electra Bicycle Company from California is opening its own shop this spring in the “Falkenried Quartier” of Hamburg. The trend-setting cycle brand has taken some 262 m² of retail space at Strassenbahnring 19. The property is owned by Dream Global Advisors Germany. Grossmann & Berger, a member of
German Property Partners (GPP), brokered the lease.
The Electra Bicycle Company already has its European headquarters in the district, at Falkenried 29.
The Falkenried Quartier has emerged on a 50,000 m² site located between Eppendorfer Weg, Lehmweg, Hoheluftchaussee and Falkenried; it used to house the vehicle workshops belonging to Hamburger Hochbahn public transport corporation that were closed in 1999. Hamburg Team bought the site, organized a two-part, international town-planning competition and took responsibility for dividing the site into sections and selling building lots to a variety of investors. The mixed-use neighbourhood has around 33,000 m² of residential property and 23,000 m² of other usable space; apartments, offices, a market hall, shops and cafés were completed in 2004 and have received several awards for architecture.
