Illums Bolighus, a Danish retailer of designer home accessories and furnishings, opens its first store in Germany on 11 November at Neuer Wall 54, Hamburg. The company turned to Grossmann & Berger, a member of German Property Partners (GPP) for assistance in its search for premises.
Occupying three floors and 1,510 m² of retail space, the home design store offers a combination of well-known design classics and selected innovative brands from the design, lighting, gastronomy, bathroom, wellness and fashion sectors.
The office and commercial block, acquired by MEAG Real Estate Hamburg in 1997, is in the upper third of Neuer Wall, Hamburg’s luxury shopping street. The brand names close to the new Illums Bolighus store include Jil Sander, Pomellato, Mahlberg Jewellery, Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Stefanel, Bottega Veneta and Mont Blanc.
Illums Bolighus was founded in 1941 in Copenhagen, but its predecessor business was established in 1925. The brand first ventured outside Denmark in 2006, when it opened a home design store in Oslo, Norway. Taking premises in Stockholm, the company expanded into Sweden in 2010. At present Illums Bolighus has six stores in its native Denmark, two in Norway, three in Sweden and, as of now, one in Germany.
