TAS KG is erecting a new office building at Überseering 2 where BP headquarters used to be; Deutsche Telekom is renting 32,000 m² of space in order to bring together their Hamburg workforce numbering around 1,600 people. Grossmann & Berger was consultant to the owner. This lease is the largest seen in Hamburg since 2007.
The old building, erected in 1971, will be completely demolished. The new building, nine stories high with a “double comb” floor plan, is designed to meet LEED gold certificate standards. The architectural plans were drafted by ksp Jürgen Engel. In addition to office space, the plans include some 1,800 m² of retail space and a multi-storey car park with room for 650 cars. If at some point extensions are required to this stand-alone office, the 23,000 m² site is big enough to allow a further building with some 10,000 and 12,000 m² of floor space. Demolition is scheduled for summer 2014 and it is planned to have the new building finished by the third quarter of 2016.
The 300-room Holiday Inn Hamburg City Nord project is also due to be completed at around the same time.
