Hamburger Abendblatt With New Head Office

Hamburg’s leading local newspaper, the “Hamburger Abendblatt”, has found a new corporate head office. After Axel Springer SE had sold the newspaper to the Funke Mediengruppe, the Group decided to find premises large enough for its Hamburg TV and radio guides, women’s magazines and its new regional paper. These publications will be grouped together in the new Burstah Offices at Grosser Burstah 18-30.

The move is planned for spring 2015. The Funke Mediengruppe turned to Völckers & Cie. and Grossmann & Berger for advice about a new office location.

The new premises are very near the Town Hall and Chamber of Commerce, making the Abendblatt even better placed to feel the city’s political and economic pulse and get closer to its readers. The building - a Frankonia Eurobau project - is now under construction in the heart of the Nikolai Quarter BID, which was officially established by the Senate at the beginning of August. It comprises eleven streets with 70 plots of land and is thus the biggest Business Improvement District in Europe. In the near future the Burstah Offices will gain greater desirability thanks to the revamping of public spaces and the numerous other new building and refurbishment projects planned in the immediate neighbourhood. This street also leads pedestrians and tourists directly into the HafenCity district.
